Intentions
Healing. Self-Love. Boundaries. Fulfillment. Balance. Such popular terms associated with therapy, yet abstract concepts often presented as answers to a difficult time you may be going through. In an age and culture that endorses digestible content and immediate self-gratification, the reality that what we are looking for is actually a subjective, experiential process can be overlooked, diminished, and/or forgotten.

Though not readily apparent, growth happens in discomfort and pain can be a compass. I describe myself as a co-pilot in self-exploration and recognize the transformative power in building a level of understanding and acceptance within ourselves. I believe that whatever you are thinking and feeling comes from a legitimate and valid place and I work with you to explore how your values and behavioral patterns can align with who you want to be.

I work to cultivate a lens of curiosity to build self-awareness, practice self-compassion, and foster feelings of empowerment. I encourage clients to pay attention to the mind-body relationship and welcome spirituality in all shapes and forms. I provide individual therapy for adults and take on an eclectic approach, drawing from various modalities that fit clients’ needs, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

About Sarah
I am a bicultural LCSW practicing psychotherapist originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, with ancestral/familial roots in the Philippines, and now living in Los Angeles. With over 10 years of experience, I bring a level of expertise, enthusiasm, and joy working with people from various backgrounds and intersectional identities. Knowing connection is at the heart of this work, and that every encounter is an exchange, I apply humor, creativity, and warmth to build collaborative and therapeutic relationships.

With an approach rooted in social justice, I take on a contextual perspective that uses thoughtful reflection in excavating the complex, multifaceted world in and outside ourselves. As a critical thinker, I take note of reoccurring themes and patterns, especially in how social, cultural, historical, and institutional factors influence the individual experience. Fascinated by semantics, I also explore how the words we use and absorb create narratives that can empower, as well as disempower, us.

I believe that there is an inherent magic within ourselves that deserves to be seen, heard, and shine. I am honored that you have considered me to take part in your journey and hope to connect with you!
